Privacy policy
Privacy is a genuine priority for Discria — not just on paper. Discria is local-first: your learning materials and data are processed exclusively on your own machine. Your data never leaves your computer unless you explicitly choose otherwise (e.g. optional web research). This website uses no cookies, no tracking, and no analytics tools. The following informs you in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) about the processing of personal data.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the GDPR and other data protection regulations is:
[Consiliari – Rechtsform][Anschrift]
Germany
Email:[E-Mail]
2. Hosting and server logs
This website is hosted by a web hosting provider. [Hosting-Anbieter] automatically processes technical access data (server logs): IP address of the requesting device, date and time of access, requested URL, data volume transferred, HTTP status code, operating system and browser of the requesting system (user agent). This data is required to ensure technical operation and for error diagnosis. No evaluation for marketing purposes takes place.
The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website). Server logs are deleted after at most [X Tage].
3. No cookies, no tracking
This website uses no cookies, no web tracking (e.g. Google Analytics, Matomo), no social media pixels, and no other analytics tools. No personal data is processed for advertising or analysis purposes or passed on to third parties.
4. The Discria product (local-first)
Discria is local-first. The product runs entirely on your own device. Your learning materials (folders, files, PDFs), the questions generated from them, and your learning results are stored and processed exclusively locally. There is no requirement to create an account; without mandatory cloud use, no personal data is transferred to external servers.
Local AI model (Ollama, preferred): When you use Discria with a local Ollama model, all AI processing takes place on your device. No requests are sent to external AI services.
LiteLLM (optional): If you connect your own LiteLLM endpoint, the privacy policy of the operator you have chosen applies. In this case, Discria establishes the connection to your configured endpoint; you are responsible for the choice and configuration of this endpoint.
Optional web research: When you enable the web research feature, Discria sends search queries about your configured topic to external web services. This feature is disabled by default and requires a deliberate choice on your part.
There is no telemetry, no automatic error reporting, and no transmission of usage data to Consiliari or third parties.
5. Contact via email
When you send us an email (e.g. to request early access), we process your email address and the content of your message solely to handle your enquiry. The data is not used for marketing purposes, not passed on to third parties, and deleted after the enquiry is concluded, unless a statutory retention obligation applies. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).
6. External links
This website contains links to external websites (e.g. GitHub). We are not responsible for the content and privacy practices of these external providers. Clicking on external links takes you away from this website.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights with respect to us as the controller:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR) — right to information about stored data.
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR) — right to correction of inaccurate data.
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) — right to erasure (right to be forgotten).
- Restriction (Art. 18 GDPR) — right to restriction of processing.
- Portability (Art. 20 GDPR) — right to data portability.
- Objection (Art. 21 GDPR) — right to object to processing.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the data protection commissioner of the German state in which you reside.
